How to support our troops

There are many ways you can support our troops, first one is to pray for there safe, and speedy return to their families and friends here in the States.  There are many different non-profit organizations that do things for our troops.  To help them out would be helping out the troops also.  You could donate things the organizations may need, or even donate some time to help out. 

 

You can go online and look at certain sites that give you ideas on ways to help out.  You can also financially help out someone in need that may have a husband or wife that is serving overseas.  Offer to baby sit, or bring them over some food for dinner.  There are so many things that you could do that would make their lives so much easier. 

 

There are also websites that offer the chance to adopt a soldier or adopt a platoon.  A great site to go to adopt a soldier is this link.  This is where you pick out someone that is serving over seas and become a pen pal with them.  You can send them care packages with many different things in them.  You could send soap, comic books, magazines, non-perishable food items, and many other things.  If you happen to know alot of people that would like to do the same thing you could adopt a platoon.  This is adopting a group of soldiers that are fighting together, a church or boy scouts or something with more people would be best for this type of help.  You could send them the same things as if you had one soldier you would just send more of it.

 

Not only can you help the actual soldiers but you can buy the yellow ribbon magnets that you see on people cars that say "Support our troops".  These are actually made by a non profit group that sends things overseas that soldiers might need or just want in general.  There are also alot of other places that have things set up to help the troops over seas.  The NRA has something set up,and they say the number one thing that soldiers in Iraq and Afganistan are Military Phone Cards.  It's cards they can use to call home and call their family.  The site for Military Phone Cards gives details on how the general public and donate cards to help the soldiers.
